Why Replace Coolant?

Coolant (antifreeze) is a fluid made from water and a glycol (like ethylene glycol or propylene glycol), sometimes mixed with glycerin or alcohol.

Its functions:

• Cools the engine and maintains optimal temperature

• Protects from freezing, corrosion, scale, and cavitation

• Lubricates the water pump

The most critical part of coolant is its additives. Over time, these degrade, and the remaining water-glycol mixture begins to cause corrosion.

Corrosion particles can jam the thermostat, destroy the pump impeller, damage pump seals, clog the radiator, and even the engine cooling channels. This can lead to engine overheating, poor fuel efficiency, power loss, and engine failure. Overheating shortens engine life 2–3 times.

To avoid this, check the coolant regularly and replace it as needed — especially if you notice low levels, cloudiness, or rust.
