New Car Break-in for the First 1000 km
Tips from Mykhailo Fedorenko, service consultant, on breaking in a new car.
During the first 1,000 km of driving a new vehicle, the engine undergoes a vital break-in phase. Follow these guidelines to ensure longevity:
-
Accelerate gradually. Avoid high RPMs and hard accelerations.
-
Warm up the engine for 30 to 60 seconds before driving.
-
Vary your speed to allow components to settle under different conditions.
-
Choose smooth roads—avoid potholes, jolts, and emergency braking.
-
Use quality fuel. Avoid additives during break-in.
-
Limit load to <70% capacity. (max ≈290 kg for automatic / 320 kg for manual)
-
Do not exceed 100 km/h.
-
Be extra cautious with new, slippery tires, especially for the first 600 km.
