The best cyclist on the road is a predictable one. The same applies to drivers. And pedestrians.

Cyclists should slow down before turning, regardless of the direction. Drivers – avoid making sharp right turns that could cut off a cyclist and cause them to flip over your hood.

Parking along the street is a shared responsibility. A good driver tip: open your car door with the far hand (the one opposite the door). This naturally turns your body toward the window, helping you spot a scooter, bike, or moped. Of course, door sensors help a lot too. Cyclists, it’s wise to anticipate the actions of a driver who’s just parked.

One simple, statistically effective tip: don’t use your phone while driving or riding. Headsets and earbuds also reduce awareness and reaction time. And even if your hands are free – your mind isn’t. If you need to make a call, stop in a safe place first.
